WE ARE RECRUITING YOUNG JOURNALISTS

19.10.2011

The 99percent campaign is recruiting young journalists to contribute to its new blog (coming soon!).

We are looking for young people to write articles, news stories and opinion pieces that will seek to promote the positive contributions that young people make to society. You may wish to write stories about how particular individuals/groups have triumphed over adversity or about the misrepresentation of young people in the media. We would also welcome opinion pieces on changes to social policy and legislation that impact on the lives of young people.

We would like to see interviews with young people about their experiences as well as opinion pieces about your personal involvement in a project or activity. If you are currently engaged in a positive activity/community project or indeed one of IARS’ research projects then you can also write a blog about your experiences.

We are happy to receive these stories through the medium of photography, written articles or videos.

We also welcome volunteers who are interested in helping to maintain the blog and coordinate the other volunteer journalists.

As part of the Editorial and Journalism team you will contribute in the following ways:

•         Contributing to the new 99percent blog by writing articles, news stories and opinion pieces;

•         Seeking out new content for the website and making decisions about content;

•         Conducting interviews with young people (by pen or by video) that can be uploaded on the 99percent website;

•         To meet as an editorial team to decide on content for the website and discuss the direction and future of the campaign as a whole and to act as a sounding board for new ideas.
