  • Community Action against Crime: Innovation Fund Worth £5 million in 2011/12, with a further £5 million set aside for 2012/13, the innovation fund will be used to encourage greater community activism.

  • Generous Every town has them: the sort of projects that provide food and shelter for the homeless on the streets in the local area. These ventures need all the volunteer help they can get.

  • High Street Fund for Riot Hit Small Businesses Open to small businesses employing less than ten people that have been affected by the recent disturbances and need help to continue trading.

  • Homeless London Working as volunteer at a service for homeless people can be very rewarding and there are a variety of things you can do (such as welcoming, talking and listening to clients, serving food, driving, skills sharing, administrative work or helping set up short term shelters).

  • Launch of Birmingham Financial Recovery Scheme The scheme is open to small and medium-sized businesses with less than 250 employees and a turnover below £11.2 million per annum, operating in Birmingham

  • Launch of the Tottenham Fund The aim is to provide assistance to those that can show that they have suffered financially as a result of the Tottenham riots. Assistance is available to both individuals and businesses in Haringey.

  • London Nightline London Nightline is run by students for students and therefore could not operate without its committed and enthusiastic volunteers.

  • London Play Many of London's adventure playgrounds and play services need volunteers to help them stay open.

  • NSPCC 1,000-plus volunteers enable the NSPCC to comfort, advise and protect thousands of children every day of the year.

  • Prevention of and Fight against Crime A part of the general programme Security and Safeguarding Liberties that is aiming to prevent and fight crime, develop coordination among law enforcement agencies and promote best practices for the protection and support to witnesses and crime victims

  • Refugee Council Our volunteers have a number of different roles within the various departments of our London office.

  • Salvation Arm The Salvation Army recognises and values the broad range of backgrounds that our volunteers hold and works towards matching individual skills and interests with the opportunities available.

  • Black Youth Achievements (BYA) CIC Black Youth Achievements (BYA) CIC is a community interest company based in London. Founded by Kay Oldroyd in October 2008 with the objective of creating opportunities for change for young people aged 8 - 25 and of African / Caribbean / Mixed Heritage in the UK. BYA will focus on positive events and experiences, to redress the balance of negative stereotypes and representations amongst this group.
